"I knew you wanted her but really? This is just low, Bolin!" Mako spat at his brother.
Bolin who was now standing between Korra and Mako turned to face her, "Can you give us a minute? I think this is something we need to handle ourselves." she nodded and walked into her room shutting the door behind her.
Bolin then turned back to Mako, "Alright, take a seat." he said pointing at a kitchen chair.
"Since when does my little brother tell me what to do?" Mako asked crossing his arms.
"Since he became more mature than his older brother. Now, sit or we can handle this a different way down at the arena."
Mako knew he was too hung over to fight Bolin right now so he decided taking the seat would be the better choice. Bolin paced in front of him for a minute before settling on the proper words.
"You had no right to do what you did to her."
"And you had no right to sleep with her right after we broke up!" Mako raised his voice.
Bolin did everything he could to control his anger, "Do you really think I would stoop that low? Korra is a hell of a lot better than that and I would never disrespect her that way! But wait, this is not about me, this is about you!"
"Yeah, I made some mistakes but she forgave me before."
"And you just think she is going to do that again?"
"Spirits, Mako! You don't know her at all! You don't know how mad she gets, how hurt she ends up being. Hell, you didn't even go after her when she ran out crying last night!"
Mako didn't say anything so Bolin went on, "You cheated on her, Mako. And she took you back. Then you did what you did last night and still think everything is going to be okay? Korra deserves so much better than you!"
"Meaning you?" Mako asked him.
"Meaning who ever she wants! I don't care if she picks me, I don't care if she picks someone she doesn't even know yet! All I care about is that she is taken care of, loved, happy and respected. You might care about her, you might on some level love her, you may have made her happy but, you did not respect her."
Bolin's words cut threw Mako like a knife threw butter. Mako knew his brother was right, he did love Korra, tried to make her happy, he would always care about her but, he stop respecting her when Asami came back around. Mako knew where is heart really lied and he cursed himself for taking so long to realize it. His little brother really did know what he was talking about and even though his words were harsh, they needed to be said.
Mako stood up and Bolin tensed his arms incase he needed to defend himself but, all Mako did was hug him. "I'm sorry for hurting the people I did. That is including you. I will always care and on some level love Korra but, Asami has always had my heart."
Bolin placed a hand on his brother's shoulder, "Thank you but, Korra needs the apology more than me."
Mako agreed with him and as he went to go beg for some form of forgiveness from Korra, Bolin waited patiently in the living room for them to return.
Mako knocked on the closed door, "Korra. I'm sorry for barging in here but, I really need to talk to you. Can I come in?" he got no response but he half expected that.
"I know you're mad and you have every right to be. Please can I talk to you?" he pleaded and still nothing.
"What if Bolin is with us too, then can we talk?" once more no response and he grew a little worried.
He turned the door knob "Korra?" he asked as he peered through the small crack in the door. The bed was in sight but Korra was not sitting on it. He opened the door a little more only to find Korra was not in the room at all. "Bolin!" he called and his brother came rushing over.
Bolin's eye's flicked over the room, "The window." he noted the open window and the curtains blowing in the soft breeze, "She must have left."
Bolin told Mako that he should just go back home and he would call him later once he found and talked to Korra. They both agreed it would be best to not have Mako go looking because it was safe to say Korra was most likely really pissed at him still.
Bolin rode on Naga's back. "Okay girl. We need to find Korra. Can you do that for me?" he asked the giant polar bear dog.
She gave a bark and took of running through the streets. Bolin held on tight forgetting how fast she could actually go. At first Bolin thought Naga was heading to the ferry which meant she would have been on Air Temple Island but at the last second she turned and ran along the waters edge, the run became a trot, and the trot became a walk until Bolin caught sight of Korra sitting on a near by rock. Her back was to him and shoes kicked off next to her.
He walked up behind her, carful not to scare her, "Hey Korra?"
She turned her head and it was clear as day she had been crying, "I am not talking to him." she sobbed.
"You don't have to if you don't want to." he said sitting next to her.
"How dare he! HOW DARE HE think I would just sleep with you out of spite for him!?" she roared.
"Korra, he was just mad, more at himself than anything."
"And why are you suddenly okay with him!? You should have put him in his place! He offended you too!"
"Yes he did. And I did put him in his place. I told him that he has no respect for you if he could go off and cheat on you like that and just expect you to take him back. He came to a realization then. He will always care for you and in someway love you but, he feels that his feelings for Asami are still there and it isn't far to lie to you."
"I should have known." she buried her head in her arms and pulled her knees close to her chest."
"Korra, you couldn't have known. This is no ones fault. Please don't beat yourself up over this."
She was crying again and Bolin just held her close while she did. He knew it was going to take a lot for her to come back from this and he wasn't really sure how to help other than to just be there for her. She cried for what felt like an hour before pulling her face away from Bolin's chest. He rubbed small circles onto her back, hoping it would calm her.
"So, are you hungry? Do you wanna go home for a little bit..." Bolin asked her.
"I want to swim." she said looking out over the water.
"You want to what?" Bolin asked wondering if he heard her right.
Korra stood up and pulled off her shirt leaving her bindings on as a swim top, "Yeah, I'm gonna take a swim." and with that being said she jumped into the water splashing Bolin.
He laughed and shook his head when she surfaced, "You should really join me, the water is pretty nice." she plunged back under and Bolin couldn't see where she had gone to. Next the he knew he was being tugged into the water by Korra pulling his ankles.
